This is a page for City of Stirling ratepayers and residents, who believe that community members know what is best for their communities and who also believe in the democratic principal, that we should have a greater say in decisions that affect us.

A healthy community relies on a balance of economic, social, environmental factors to promote the physical, mental and social well-being of people who live and work in the community.

Many factors that have a direct affect on our lives and property values are determined by Local and State Government laws, policies and decisions and then the standards of governance that regulates those laws.

The quality and design of the physical environment that we live in (our neighbourhoods, parks, roads, pathways, local shopping precincts, schools ) has a direct affect us and  impact on the quality of our lives and happiness.

For too long, too many citizens have not performed their democratic duty, which requires citizens to scrutinise Government and  inform (lobby) their local Councillors and Members of Parliament of to inform them of their will, to help shape the laws and policies that affect us.  When too few citizens speak out, their voices are often ignored.

Over the decades, profit seeking developers and property pundits have lobbied our local and state elected members virtually uncontested, resulting in laws that have incrementally reduce community say and empower developers.  Most developers that operate in the City of Stirling do not have to live with their developments, they are only trying to maximising their short term profits.

Though Governments give lip service about transparency and encouraging public participation and public comment, too often results of the consultation are ignored and many issues are dealt with in secrecy (behind closed doors) and or with obfuscation.  Often even Councillors (there to represent us) are kept in the dark, due to a growing trend by Local Governments to allow officers and executives to make decisions by ‘delegated of authority‘ on issues that really warrant transparency council approval.

To often these days, greedy special interest groups and developers seeking to maximise profits, get their way at the expense of the wider community.   With this website (and its social media platform) we seeks to create awareness of as many local issues as possible that require scrutiny and to encourage citizen act if required, to ensure better outcomes for the wider community and for future generations.
