1.  Let the People Elect the Mayor – Not Councillors

Please download, print, sign and return a copies of this petition, by 5pm on the 7th of February 2016.

The petition proposes the following;      

1. That the City of Stirling change the method of filling the office of Mayor from 2.11 (1. b) of the Local Government Act of 1995 to 2.11 (1. a) of the Act, to enable electors to choose the Mayor, rather than Councillors;

2.  That the City of Stirling have this change implemented in sufficient time for the Local Government elections in October 2017;

3. That the Mayor NOT be a Councillor and perform duties (1. a) to ( 1. f) as listed in section 2.8 of the Local Government Act of 1995 and  that 14 Councillors be retained to represent the very large number of residents and ratepayers in  the City of Stirling.
