The next Local Government elections will be held

this year in October 2017

This will be a historic election for the City of Stirling, because there will also be a  referendum held at the same time to let the people decide how the Mayor will be elected in future elections, either by the people or by Councillors as is the current how it is done?

Local government elections are held on the third Saturday in October every two years.  See the WA Electoral Commission and the City of Stirling website for details.

Basically, Councillors are elected for 4 year terms.   In the City of Stirling we have two Councillors per ward and we have seven wards.  One Councillor position per ward comes up for re-election at each Local Government Election.

Go to the WA Electoral Commission to see results from past elections.

Find information on how to become a Councillor here.
